Thank you so much for taking the time to share your recipe. I actually have a freezer filled with my ABV edibles, but, my body just doesn't react the same way with edibles made from AVB. I think it has something to do with the terpenes or undetermined cannabinoid (my theory is something i need is already gone in the AVB). The body metabolizes inhaled and orally consumed cannabis differently. It makes me feel off.

Hi there, I have a great recipe that has never failed me, and I'm horrible at cooking! It involves coconut oil to make edibles, which has a much higher thc extraction rate. Another note, I use AVB (already vaped bud). Don't know if you knew this but vaporization only gets rid of a certain amount of THC, so saving it and using it to make the oil with is an option, if you don't want to buy new flower every time. So what you need is:

1 cup cold pressed organic coconut oil ($7 or so at Walmart
1/2c water
30 grams AVB or 5-10 grams regular flower
1 package of cheesecloth (about $3 at Walmart)
A crockpot.

Put the coconut oil and 1/2 c water in the crock. Put it on high and let the coconut oil melt. When it is melted, add the bud. Stir well, then let simmer overnight or for 12-16 hours. You will end up with a deep brown mucky goop.

This next part is the trickiest part, because the goop is hot. I use a colander (strainer) and drape the cheesecloth over the inside, then pour the goop in. Fold the cheesecloth over the goop and press or squeeze with a spoon until it is somewhat dry. Now that the coconut oil has absorbed the THC and gone through the cheesecloth/strainer combo, it should be very dark in color and there should be little to no plant matter in it. Seal the oil in a Tupperware and pop it in the fridge.

The water you added is still in the oil, but now that it's in the fridge, it will seperate. Wait about 10 hours or so, then use a butter knife to loosen the oil, and it should come away from the bottom in one brick. Pour the water out, dab off your oil and all done!

With your oil, just melt and add to any recipe or brownie mix in place of butter/vegetable oil, or you can eat it straight (pretty nasty but it does the job!) And always remember, when you deal with edibles, just start low and go slow.

I'm definitely going to look up that study! The science pouring out is fascinating. Every week feels like Christmas. I didn't realize you went to med school in Philly. I love that city.

I used to go to the shore near Ocean City, NJ when in med school in Philly when I had the chance.

PS I just read about a study, done in vitro, that feels that THC might prevent Alzheimer's by reducing beta amyloid.
