My Little Princess:

Each day, I admire you in amazement.  I am constantly awed by your intellect, your perseverance, and your dedication to learning.

The only thing that impresses me more than your passion for knowledge, is your genuine compassion.  You are the sweetest, kindest and most compassionate young lady I have ever encountered.  Your compassion is your greatest quality.

I was only 16 when you were born, a child myself.  The instant I held you in my arms, my heart filled with a deep indescribable love for you that outshined anything I had ever imagined.  We shared many scary days.  I had no plan, no idea how to be a mom.

In many ways, we grew up together.  You grew to be a sweet unique child and I grew to be a mother.  Motherhood has brought me astonishingly pure joy.

I often wish I could have given you more during your childhood.  I still wish I could give you the world.  But I continually marvel at the sincere appreciation you express for everything we do have.

Life has brought us down a bumpy road.  Those bumps molded you, added character, and chipped away at the external dust and slate uncovering the brilliant gem inside.

I’ve always called you, “my little treasure”.  Now as you prepare to go to college, it’s time to share my treasure with the world.  I pray that as you explore the world, you remember a few things:

“A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” –Eleanor Roosevelt

You are an unbelievably strong young woman.  As you face life’s challenges you’ll come to realize how strong you truly are.  Embrace your strength.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

You are strong.  You are beautiful.  You are brilliant.  No one can take your inherent qualities away from you.  Don’t let anyone try.

“There are only two ways to live your life.  One is as though nothing is a miracle.   The other I as though everything is a miracle.”  – Albert Einstein

Embrace all that the world throws at you.  Experience and cherish life.  Use each experience to build the future you dream of.  Life is a miracle and so are you.

“I have not failed.  I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas A. Edison

Don’t give up!  Ever.

“Study as if you were going to live forever; live as if you were going to die tomorrow.” – Maria Mitchell
Keep working hard.  Absorb as much knowledge as you can.  Embrace new skills.  But remember there is more to life than good grades.  Live!
“Each person must live their life as a model for others.”  – Rosa Parks
Live a life that you are proud of.  Make decisions you would be happy to have shouted from the rooftops.
“Here’s to the crazy ones.  The misfits.  The rebels.  The troublemakers.  The round pegs in the square holes.  The ones who see things differently.  They’re not fond of rules.  And they have no respect for the status quo.  You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.  About the only thing you can’t do it ignore them.  Because they change things.  They push the human race forward.  And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.  Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”  – Apple, Inc.

You are my round peg and I am so honored and proud to be your mom.  I love you with all my heart.

Love always and forever,
Mom
