UP-DATE:  The only thing I use for my psoriasis now is medical marijuana oil.  I use it regularly and haven’t had a flare-up since.

Frankincense is historically significant.  Most famous for its role in the bible as one of the three gifts the wise men presented to Jesus.  It has been used since ancient times.  It was even found in King Tut’s tomb).

It’s long been considered a “holy” oil by many, this soothing essence is often used during meditation, spiritual practices, and religious ceremonies.

It has also been used medicinally since ancient times.  HowStuffWorks.com has an interesting article reporting that in “The Papyrus Ebers of 1500 B.C., priests recommended…(Frankincense) for the treatment of wounds”.

Tons of anecdotal evidence claims a range of medicinal attributes for this oil.  Clinical trials are actively being conducted to assess Frankincense’s effects on a variety of diseases.

Like most essential oils, Frankincense has a multitude of properties and uses.  In addition to its sedative and calming effects, it is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiseptic, disinfectant, diuretic, expectorant, digestive agent and has carminative, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, emenagogue, and vulnerary effects.

I stumbled upon the benefits Frankincense has on my psoriasis accidentally.  I was dealing with a psoriasis flare-up on my finger.  I often use Frankincense as a disinfectant.  I spilled a little on my finger. About 15 minutes later fiery itching cooled

Itch Relief Oil

1 oz carrier oil
45 drops frankincense essential oil

Before the itch oil, my finger was raw from the constant scratching.  Now I apply it frequently throughout the day.  It hasn’t cured my psoriasis but it soothes the relentless burning and itching.  It’s giving my skin a chance to heal and it brings me so much relief.

Use therapeutic grade essential oils.  Do not apply to skin undiluted.  Avoid contact with eyes and mucus membranes.  Only ingest oils under the careful guidance of a licensed health practitioner.  Use caution when using essential oils on children.  Consult a licensed care provider before using essential oils on children under age 3.  Immediately stop use and consult a health professional if skin sensitivity or allergy occurs.
