Here’s how I make a small batch of cannabis coconut oil.  This small amount of cannabis oil can then be placed into capsules or used in a single serving edibles recipe. Scroll down for the step-by-step with photos.

Cannabis Infused Oil – Small Batch – Crockpot Method

• 5 grams ground decarboxylated cannabis
• ¼ cup coconut oil
• 2 teaspoons sunflower lecithin (optional)

(The smallest amount of cannabis coconut oil that I’ve made is by cutting this recipe in half and using 2.5 grams of cannabis, 1/8 cup of coconut oil, and one teaspoon of lecithin.)

Fastest Way to Make Small-Batch Edibles

Before we dive into the old-fashioned method, let me tell you about the Ardent Decarboxylator. The fastest and most efficient way to make small-batch edibles is to use the Ardent Nova Decarboxylator. It’s remarkable and saves money on cannabis in the long run!  But if you don’t have an Ardent, you can use a mini-crockpot, or even a double boiler over a stove to make a small-batch of cananbis oil, and I’ll show you how.

THIS is how I decarb perfectly every time.

Tools to Make Cannabis Coconut Oil

• Oven Thermometer or Ardent Lift
• Digital Thermometer
• Mini Crockpot 

Why You Need to Decarboxylate Your Cannabis

You MUST decarboxylate your cannabis by heating it. If you use an oven, your house WILL smell!

Decarboxylation converts the inactive forms of the cannabinoids, for example, THCA, into the active form, for example, THC.

Perfect decarboxylation is a complex process. Perfect decarboxylation with significantly enhance the potency of your edibles. The  Ardent Lift is a remarkable device that decarbs cannabis perfectly every time.  One of the other amazing things about the Ardent Lift is it significantly reduces the smell of the cannabis.

But if it’s your first time cooking, the old-fashioned oven method will work perfectly fine. One thing to keep in mind when cooking cannabis is to keep an eye on the temperature.

If you cook cannabis at too high a temperature, it will damage your cannabinoids. I highly recommend you calibrate your oven with a cheap oven thermometer like this one.

Instructions to Make Small Batch Cannabis in a Crockpot

Step 1. Decarboxylate Cannabis

Place the ground herb/cannabis flower in dish or foil. Bake at 240-250 for 40 minutes (I use this oven thermometer to ensure I’m decarbing at the ideal temperature.)

Step 2. Combine Ingredients In Crockpot

Combine the ground decarbed cannabis, coconut oil, and sunflower lecithin in the crockpot.

I use this tiny warmer crockpot. It operates at low temperatures, this is ideal because you do not want cannabis oil to heat above 200 degrees. I use this digital thermometer to watch the temperature.

Step 3. Cook & Stir Often (Keep under 200 degrees)

Cook contents 4-8 hours in the crockpot on warm. Stir occasionally. The ideal oil temperature is between 180-200 degrees. (I use this inexpensive digital thermometer to monitor the temperature of my oil.)

Step 4. Strain

Use cheesecloth or a mesh strainer to separate the plant material from the oil

Step 5. Enjoy Responsibly and Label Your Meds

You can use the infused oil to make small batch edibles, eat on its own, or fill capsules.

Single Serving Edibles: Cannabis Carrot Cake for One (or two)

Single Dose Edibles Recipe – Whole Grain, With No Refined Sugar

This single dose edibles recipe for Cannabis Carrot Cake is quick and easy to make.  It’s a single-serving edibles recipe so it only makes one small cannabis carrot cake or two cannabis carrot cake muffins.

This recipe for carrot cannacake uses whole wheat flour and natural turbinado sugar. White flour and white sugar contribute to inflammation and should be avoided.

Cannabis Carrot Cake Edibles Using Cannabutter or Cannaoil

This cannabis carrot cake recipe uses cannabutter or cannaoil (See my tutorial on how to make cannabis coconut oil).

If you only have a few ounces of weed, try my small batch cannabis oil recipe.

Although to be honest, that’s not how I make my oil or butter anymore. Now, I use the Magical Butter Machine. It’s one of the greatest devices I own. The MBM makes my life so much easier.

About Dosing: How To Make Single Serving Edibles

The recipe can be adjusted to the strength/cannabis dose you desire.

How strong this cannacake is, depends on the potency of your cannabutter or cannaoil. The potency of cannabutter and canna-oil varies greatly. Be familiar with your dose and always start small.

One teaspoon of my canna-oil equaled one dose. To make this a single dose edible recipe, I used one teaspoon of my cannabis coconut oil PLUS 2 teaspoons of regular coconut oil.

You can make your carrot cannacake as strong as you prefer.  You can even make it more potent and make mini-muffins instead.

Use caution with canna-cake and all edibles.

It takes an hour for effects to set in (Some individuals report that it takes up to four hours before they begin to feel the effects of edibles. It all depends on your individual digestive system.)

I devour this carrot cannacake quickly. It’s delicious, so be careful with dosing.

Healthy Carrot Cake For One

Go Cannabis-Free, and It’s An Ordinary Small Carrot Cake Recipe

I often make a “virgin” version of this recipe with ordinary butter for my kids.  If you just use regular butter instead of cannabutter.

Even without the cannabis, this is a fantastic healthy carrot cake recipe for one.

So if you have the munchies and need a refined-sugar free, whole-grain carrot cake, you can whip up this healthy carrot cake recipe for one in only 20 minutes.

One of my favorite parts of carrot cake is the cream cheese icing. I didn’t have any cream cheese so I threw on a simple sugar glaze.

Cannabis Carrot Cake Recipe

Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Bake Time: 15 Minutes

Ready In: 25 Minutes

Ingredients:

• 3 Tablespoons Shredded Carrots
• 1 Egg
• 1 Tablespoon Melted CannaButter or CannaOil (adjusted to your preferred strength)
• 4 Tablespoons Whole Grain Flour
• 2 Tablespoons Natural Cane Sugar
• 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Powder
• 1/8 Teaspoon Salt
• 1/4 Teaspoon Sunflower Lecithin (optional)
• 1/8 Teaspoon Cinnamon
• Dash of Ginger
• Dash of Nutmeg
• Splash of Vanilla
• 1 Tablespoon Raisins
• 1 Tablespoon Chopped Nuts

Directions:

• Combine dry ingredients.
• Add cannabutter (or cannaoil), egg, and vanilla and mix until well combined.
• Fold in shredded carrots, raisins, and chopped nuts.
• Transfer mix into a greased cake pan or a greased muffin pan (makes two muffins).
• Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Simple Sugar Glaze (Canna-Glaze) Recipe

Ingredients:

• 3-4 Tablespoons Powdered Turbinado Sugar (I run turbinado sugar through a blender.)
• 1/2 Tablespoon of Canna-Butter (or ordinary butter for ordinary glaze)
• 1/2 – 1 Tablespoon of Cream
• Splash of Vanilla

Directions:

Melt butter in a saucepan. Add vanilla and half tablespoon of cream. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar and mix well. Add more cream or more powdered sugar until desired consistency.

Drizzle glaze onto carrot cake.

A little of this sugar glaze goes a long way. You can make this as a cannaglaze (cannabis-infused glaze) by using canna-butter instead of regular butter.

Small Bath Edibles are Convenient

I love a really good pot brownie, but I don’t want to use my entire jar of cannabutter to make one batch. Since I’m the only cannabis consumer in my house, I often make small batch edible recipes for one person.

This cannabis and pumpkin recipe makes two muffins. How much cannabutter or cannaoil you use and how strong your cannabutter is, determines the dose of these muffins.  (Here’s my recipe for ABV coconut oil.)

I love the texture of these muffins and I wholeheartedly encourage add-ins. Try tossing some raisins or walnuts into the batter before filling the muffin tins.

Pumpkin Spice POT Muffin Recipe

(This is a Small Batch Edibles Recipe.)

Makes 2 Muffins

Ingredients:

• 1 tablespoon of melted oil or butter (*Total, including 1-2 doses of Cannabutter or Cannaoil)
• 1 Egg
• 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
• splash of vanilla
• 1 1/2 tablespoons turbinado sugar
• 3 tablespoons whole wheat flour
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin spice
• pinch of salt

DOSING NOTE:  *For this recipe, 1 teaspoon of cannabutter was equal to one dose. I used 2 teaspoons of cannabutter, and 1 teaspoon of regular butter.  3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon

The stronger your cannabutter or canna-oil (or if you use more), the stronger your muffins will be.

Pot and Pumpkin Muffin Directions: 

• Blend together egg, melted butter, pumpkin puree, and vanilla
• Mix in dry ingredients until well combined
• Pour into a lined muffin tin (makes 2 muffins!)
• Bake at 350 for 15-18 mins or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean
• Enjoy!

Some patients only have access to cannabis flower. If this is the case, you may have to make your own weed edibles.

I microdose, or take small amounts of medical marijuana at regular intervals, frequently throughout the day.

Why Make Small Batch Edibles?

Often people want to make edibles with a small amount of cannabis. And there aren’t a ton of recipes of how for how to make edibles for one person.

When I first began making edibles, I was nervous. Mostly because I didn’t want to waste my medicine. I worried my first attempts at pot brownies or cannabis cookies and having them taste inedible.

My fear was reasonable because my first version of weed edibles were so weak I had to eat half a pan to feel the medicinal effects. After that, I began exploring single dose edibles.

I started with the popular firecracker, but I’m just not a fan of ground plants in my peanut butter, even when it’s cannabis. So, I put together this single serving edibles recipe for chocolate cake.

• 1 Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder
• 4 Tablespoons of Whole-Wheat Flour
• 2 Teaspoons of Turbinado Sugar
• ¼ Teaspoon Baking Powder
• Splash of Vanilla
• Pinch of Salt

Directions:

• Combine and mix ingredients well.
• Transfer to a greased, oven-safe bowl, or a small cake pan, or a muffin tin
• Bake at 350 for 12-17 mins

Tips For Edibles

Please store your weed securely and keep away from children.  Educate kids about cannabis.

LABEL YOUR MEDICATED TREATS!  Educate your household (especially children) to recognize that LABELED containers mean the contents are medicated!

If you are using medicated coconut oil or butter, you will need to melt it.  I don’t put medicated oil in the microwave.  I place mine in an oven-safe bowl and melt it at a low temp in the oven or I put the sealed jar in a cup of warm water.

Sunflower lecithin increases the absorption capacity of the intestines allowing more cannabinoids to be absorbed making your medication feel stronger. If your cannabutter doesn’t already have sunflower lecithin, you can add it to your baked goods to enhance the absorption of cannabinoids.
